Ellen Taaffe Zwilich: Goosebumps in the Candy Shop

New Music Box, the electronic music journal published by the American Music Center, has produced a remarkably insightful interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich whose comments are a reflection not only on her own music but on the very meaning of the art. She says that she feels like “a kid in the candy shop” when she’s writing music, and that she only embarks on a compositional project if it gives her goosebumps.

Conducted by New Music Box editor Frank J. Oteri, the video that also contains snippets of various Zwilich works, may be viewed (and the entire transcript read) by clicking here (http://www.newmusicbox.org/?p=6511&page=1).
